Sign up with a school or university email and you can check up to 1,000 papers a month free. You need no card and no purchase order.
Who qualifies
The check happens at sign-up, against the end of the email address you register with. Addresses like these qualify:
- .edu
- .edu with a country code, such as .edu.au
- .ac with a country code, such as .ac.uk
- .sch with a country code, such as .sch.uk
- k12 state domains in the United States
What counts as a paper
One check of up to 25,000 words counts as one paper. Without a school email, the free plan gives you 2,000 words a day.
Why it costs nothing
The detector is ours. We run it ourselves on a cloud GPU provider, and no other company's detector sees the text. The free school plan is how we get it in front of teachers, so a teacher with thirty essays due can check one without waiting for a purchase order or a pilot. The paid plans for heavier use pay for it, once billing opens. A school that later wants more volume or a contract can write to us.
The same detector
The education plan runs the same detector as every other plan, run v1_8_s2_seed303 today. There is no lighter model for schools.
What it will not do
It does not check for plagiarism or images, and it does not fetch web addresses. It reads English academic and student writing only. It will not decide anything for you.
A flag from our detector is a reason to look closer. It is not proof that anyone cheated.
The numbers behind it
Our detector flagged none of 1,928 human-written papers and essays it was never trained on. The 95% ceiling on its false-flag rate is 0.155%. It also flagged none of 1,195 essays by English learners that were kept out of training as a fairness test. Those essays come from one university English language program, written between 2005 and 2012. Every human-written document we tested was written before 2022.
