What these terms cover

These terms apply when you use the web app, the API or the MCP server. You accept them when you create an account or send a request to the API.

Your account

Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

The free Education plan comes from the email address you sign up with, once you verify it. No administrator issues it and no school roster controls it. Nobody else can create or manage an account for you.

Plans and usage

Each plan has an allowance, listed on the pricing page. Nothing is billed today. No paid plan is running, and the overage rate on the pricing page applies only once one is.

The free Education plan is open to anyone who signs up with a qualifying school email address. It has a monthly limit on papers checked.

API and MCP terms

Your API key is a signed token, not a password. It is not stored on our servers, and it expires 90 days after it is created. Because nothing is stored, a key cannot be revoked before it expires. If one leaks, stop using it, create a new one, and email hello@olive.is to have the old one blocked.

Requests made with your key are subject to an hourly limit on requests and words, published in the API reference. Do not share your key, use automation to get around that limit, or try to rebuild the detector from its responses.

Acceptable use

Do not use a verdict as the only basis for an academic or employment decision about a person. The product is not for that. A verdict is evidence to weigh with everything else you know. It is never a finding by itself.

Do not try to copy, retrain or resell the detector. Do not submit text you do not have the right to submit.

What a verdict is

A verdict is a statistical estimate from our detector. It is not a certification, and it can be wrong. The model card states how often it was wrong in testing, and under which conditions.

Ending your account

To close your account, email hello@olive.is. We may suspend or close an account that breaks the acceptable use terms, with notice where we reasonably can give it.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided as available, with no warranty that results will be free of errors. The limits on our liability are not set yet. Ask us: hello@olive.is.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you before the change takes effect.
