Data Privacy FAQ

Last updated 2026-09-15

This page is a draft. Counsel has not reviewed it yet, and the wording may change before it is final.

Do you keep the text I check?

No. Human scores the text in memory and does not save it. Neither this site nor our detector keeps a copy of the papers you check.

Does anyone read what I submit?

No one reviews your text as part of the product. It passes through the detector to produce a verdict.

Is my text used to train your detector?

No. The detector does not save the text it scores, so there is no copy to train on.

Do you send my text anywhere else?

It goes over a secure connection to our detector, which runs on a cloud GPU provider. We never send it to another company's detector.

What do you know about my account?

Your email address, from sign-in, and a count of the checks and words you use each day or each month, depending on your plan. Not the text you checked.

What if I'm not signed in?

Checks on the homepage are limited by IP address to prevent misuse. The address is held in memory for the hour it takes to enforce the limit, then dropped.

What cookies do you set?

Only the one Firebase uses to keep you signed in. None for advertising or tracking.

How do API keys work?

A key is a signed token that you hold. We check it rather than store it, and it expires 90 days after you create it.

How do you know my school qualifies for the Education plan?

By the domain of the email address you sign up with. Recognised school, university and K-12 domains qualify once you verify the address.

How do I delete my account, and what does that remove?

Email hello@olive.is and we will delete it. That removes your sign-in and your usage count. The web app keeps no document history to remove.
